Reviewed February 2018The 2000 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has matured very well in bottle over the last 18 years with perfumed redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, orange blossom, minerals and just a hint of sage. It is one of the best aromatics that I have encountered from this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well judged acidity, nicely integrated oak with good substance and persistence towards the tender, slightly saline finish. In a different league to Damoy's Chapelle-Chambertin. (NM)

Often regarded as the emblematic producer of Chambertin-Clos de Bèze – thanks to his 5.6 hectares of holdings here and the much-photographed hut that bears his name – Pierre Damoy has not hit the same heights with this wine in 2000 as he did with his Chapelle-Chambertin. The tannins are just a little too firm for the savoury fruit. (TA)

Meaty and dark, with a pure, focused black fruit nose. On the palate this is deep, rich, and very profound Grand Cru Burgundy. This has completely exceeded my expectations for how this wine would develop. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 11/05) Allen Meadows writes: "Quite deeply colored with earthy, black pepper and black cherry fruit notes and dense and intense flavors of excellent character and length.
