Reviewed June 2025This blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot from Keenan’s Spring Mountain estate opens with high-toned violet and graphite aromas that build into a full-bodied palate. Dusty tannins frame emerging notes of forest berries, dark loamy earth, leather, and tobacco spice. A soft and juicy red with blackberry, black-olive, violet and sandalwood character. Round, creamy tannins and a delicious finish. Some mint at the end.

High above St. Helena, Keenan’s Spring Mountain estate has been a source for mountain-grown Bordeaux varieties since the late 1970s. “Capstone” is the winery’s Bordeaux-style red blend rather than a single-varietal bottling, tied closely to the estate’s long-running focus on Spring Mountain fruit.
