2023 Williams Selyem "Savoy Vineyard" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L)
97
James Suckling
Review Date: 09/2025Brooding and exotic, this full-bodied, powerful wine shows minty, pine-forest aromas along with guavas, redwood bark and violets. Plush yet structured with flavors of mountain blueberries, wild blackberries and plums. Very layered and complex with wonderful black-fruit purity and chalky tannins. Drink after 2026. (CH)

Notes
Williams Selyem Winery began as a simple dream between two friends, Ed Selyem and Burt Williams, who pursued weekend winemaking as a hobby in 1979 in a garage in Forestville, California, and made their first commercial vintage in 1981. As friends, they decided to make a go of winemaking together in a two-car garage on River Road. The concrete pad outside held the small dairy tanks that they used as fermenters. The rest is history!
