A pure expression of Merlot, the 2010 Casalferro is a plump and modern wine teaming with black cherry and bold blackberry intensity. It makes a statement, thanks to the warm renderings of exotic spice and leather that fill in the back. That said, the wine’s style is by no means over extracted or over-the-top. In fact, it shows medium weight with polished tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025. (ML)

The 2010 Casalferro is 100% Merlot. Tar, licorice, smoke, iron and a host of dark nuances give the 2010 its sense of weight and gravitas. There is a lot going on in the glass in this powerful, imposing wine. (AG)
