This has a spicy and chocolatey nose with dark fruit and hints of walnuts and licorice. Medium- to full-bodied, broad and well shaped on the palate, with compact, velvety tannins. Good concentration and length. Drink or hold. (AS)

Aromas of ripe plum and turned earth open the nose of this pleasant Barbera. Ripe cherries with mixed savory and sweet spices are found on the bright palate with a deeply earthy finish. (JP)
Staff Reviews

It is a rare event to see a true Nizza DOCG hit the shelf at twenty dollars. When you consider that the 2020 Amista is positioned at fifty dollars in every other market, the proposition becomes undeniable. Nizza is Piemonte’s answer to structural Barbera, yet so many modern examples fall victim to syrupy extraction, burying the grape's identity in heavy-handed cellar tricks. The Amista, sourced from the chalk-dominant soils of the Bricco subzone, stands as a direct refutation of that lazy, spoofed-up style.
Do you like Cabernet? You need this. Do you like Barbera? Again, you need this. What a deal!
