Some barrel-fermented, some concrete, and some stainless steel, the light-bodied 2024 Chardonnay Paysan Jacks' Hill is from a heavily windswept mix of sites, including Piearcy, Quail Run, and Fogstone. Sleekly textured, the fruit is demure in apple and citrus, with a texture of wet stone and linear acidity. Drink now through 2034.
Ian Brand is a deservedly popular producer of wines from across the Monterey region, working with forgotten varieties and forgotten vineyards in many cases. He captures both sense of place and freshness to make original and highly exciting wines.

A crisp light Chardonnay, oyster shells, grilled lemon wedge, smoky flint, juicy Meyer lemon pulp, salted lemon wedge. 50% barrel, 50% tank fermentation that then sees concrete. Fresh and lively with brilliant mineral flourishes and whispers of lemon pith.
