Equally pale but even more striking, with the saline mineral nose and a sense of purity. A striking freshness of fruit, Kimmeridge put to good use, with a lovely clean and pure finish. Real delicacy with intensity. Drink from 2025-2030. Tasted Jul 2024.

Issuing from 35- to 80-year-old vines, the 2022 Chablis Vieilles Vignes has turned out very well. Offering notes of peach, green apple and lemon zest, it’s medium-bodied, bright and laden with racy acidity and a precise finish. Antoine Bessin remarks that the slowing down of maturity that resulted from hydric stress produced rather fresh wines with higher acidity. It is vinified entirely in stainless steel.
Jean-Claude Bessin officially retired, handing over the reins to his sons, Romain and Antoine. Today, Romain is responsible for work in the vineyards, while Antoine manages the cellar. What was formerly Domaine Jean-Claude Bessin has been rechristened Domaine Bessin-Tremblay—Romain's mother, the source of many of the domaine's vineyards, being a Tremblay. The name may have changed, but the quality at this 12.3-hectare domaine in La Chapelle Vaupelteigne remains just as impressive.(KK)

Note: from vines in La Chapelle Vaupelteigne. eduction add breadth to the lightly wooded aromas of oyster shell, iodine and pear. As is usually the case, there is slightly more volume and richness to the appealingly textured medium weight flavors that possess a succulent mid-palate that contrasts somewhat with the lemon, powerful and mildly rustic finale. This is a fine Chablis villages and worth your interest.*Burghound Outstanding!*
