The 2024 Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Honivogl, a brand name rather than a site, is made from fruit picked along each side of the border between Axpoint and Singerriedl on eroded debris. Supple pear and yeast are gentle and tender on the nose. For now, this is more open than its siblings. Here, vivid white pepper is wrapped in subtle creaminess and ripe, smooth green-yellow pear flesh. The wine shows great direction and contour, with beautiful delineation of flavors that shimmer with white pepper. Supreme balance and harmony pervade, with an extra accent of freshness.(AK)
