“Saturated ruby. Expressive blackberry, exotic spice, peony and smoky mineral scents show very sharp delineation and pick up a hint of olive with air. Sappy, spice-laced dark berry and bitter cherry flavors display very good depth and a complementary hint of candied flowers that emerges on the back half. “The 2017 VdP de l'Ardeche Les Iles Feray Syrah easily mixes herbal overtones with blueberries and olives. It's medium to full-bodied, maybe not quite as fleshy or silky as the 2018 but vibrant and delicious. It even adds hints of licorice on the mouthwatering finish. (JC)” (01/2020)
