“Another brilliant wine as well as possibly one of my favorite vintages for this cuvée, the 2019 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate (all from the Sonoma Coast) reveals a deeper ruby/purple color to go with a captivating bouquet of black raspberries, redcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, and just a beautiful sense of crushed rock-like minerality. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it’s flawlessly balanced and has a great mid-palate, building, ripe, polished tannins, and a juicy sense of acidity that keeps you salivating on the finish. This is another riveting 2019 Pinot Noir from Paul Hobbs.” (07/2021)

“A fresh, floral nose with ripe red cherries, strawberries and vanilla. Full body and rounded, velvety tannins with a cinematic level of vibrancy and technicolor saturation. Mineral-driven, forward-moving energy that completely takes hold of you. Just so alive and exciting. Fantastic.” (11/2022)

“Medium ruby-purple, the 2019 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate unfolds slowly to blueberries, cranberries, tangerine peel, forest floor and mushroom, plus loads of spices in the undercurrent. Medium-bodied, it offers fragrant fruits, an abundance of finely grained tannins, seamless acidity and a long, perfumed finish. (EB)” (07/2022)

“Intense and pure-tasting, this complex red is filled with crunchy acidity to the well-knit slate, red berry and wild spice flavors. The lively finish is backed by crisp tannins and plenty of rich forest floor and floral notes. *Highly Recommended* (KM)” (09/2021)

“The 2019 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate stands out in this range for its density, creaminess and layered, sumptuous personality. The Goldrock is a selection taken from two of the seven Pinot blocks on the estate. Inky red/purplish berry fruit, lavender, rose petal. Soils here are mostly Goldridge with a bit of clay, which adds breadth and richness. (AG)” (01/2021)

“From the remote area of Annapolis, the 2022 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate pours a youthful magenta hue and is a bit more reserved, but as it begins to open in the glass, it reveals notes of bright mixed berries, wild raspberries, blood orange, and dusty earth. Medium-bodied, it's bright and mouthwatering on the palate, with a juicy feel to flesh out the midpalate and a lovely, sanguine, salty finish. It's going to be a fantastic, savory wine to drink over the coming 10-15 years. (AF)” (06/2024)

“ots of pretty ripe strawberries and cherries with hints of cedar and spices. It’s medium- to full-bodied with hints of dried fruit and a juicy finish. Moss and oyster undertones.” (06/2024)

Wine Advocate
“The 2022 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate, matured in around 33% new French oak, has a deep well of aromas: pomegranate is accented by tones of charcuterie, fennel seed, allspice and Angostura bitters. The medium-bodied palate is silky and refreshing with detailed, layered flavors and a long, ethereal finish. It’s drinking beautifully straight from the bottle. (EB)” (10/2024)

“The 2022 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate shows all the savory and mineral energy of this site on the West Sonoma Coast, in the understated style of the year. Crushed rocks, blood orange, sage, mint and white pepper open first. The 2022 offers a captivating mix of energy and mid-weight structure that is hugely appealing.” (12/2024)

“Adheres to the frankly ripe and gently toasted style, with a core of friendly mulberry and boysenberry puree notes that glide through, with hints of anise and iris. The polished finish gives this a generous and suave feel.” (12/2024)

“This has fantastic intensity and focus with firm and racy tannins that show blue fruits, orange peel, hibiscus flowers and plants. Medium body. Acid and tannin driven. Complex structure. 85% of this is heritage clones of Mount Eden, Calera and Swan.” (11/2023)

“With a ripe magenta hue, the 2022 Pinot Noir George Menini Vineyard is equally high in quality and was harvested quite early for this site in the Sebastopol Hills. It boasts a slightly deeper and layered profile in the glass, revealing brambly notes of wild, sweet herbs, fresh black cherries, and violets. It has a medium-bodied frame that retains great tension on the palate, with coiled tannins and a delicate spice through the long finish, with notes of incense. (AF)” (06/2024)

“The 2022 Pinot Noir George Menini was bottled in August 2023 and tasted in November. The nose opens slowly to reveal delicate rhubarb, strawberry, raspberry, black tea leaves, woodsmoke and juniper. The light-bodied palate is bursting with crunchy red fruit and spicy accents. It has a fine, chalky frame, fireworks of fresh acidity and a long finish with tremendous floral perfume.” (12/2023)

“The 2022 Pinot Noir George Menini is the most complete of the wines I tasted in this set of Spring releases from Paul Hobbs. Dark, ample and intensely savory, the 2022 impresses with its resonant personality. It's a big, vibrant wine with impeccable balance and tons of harmony. A whole range of floral and spiced aromatics lingers on the close. This is a standout. (AG)” (12/2023)

“This nicely done version's juicy burst of maraschino cherry and blackberry fruit is laced with anise and applewood accents through the toasty but well-filled-out finish (for the vintage). (JM)” (08/2024)
