Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Chaignots" (92RP, 91BH). Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Nuits St. Georges Les Chaignots emerges from the glass with dark wild cherries, licorice and minerals, all of which come together in a deep, sensual style. This is another texturally brilliant wine endowed with plenty of intensity and fabulous overall balance. Notes of inner sweetness linger on the finish. (AG)" (05/2011)

92-94 points Neal Martin's Wine Journal: "Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. This has a beautiful nose with great intensity: very fruit-driven, raspberry coulis, strawberry and Bakewell tart. Very fine definition. The palate is supremely well balanced and full of tension, so much finesse and poise, fresh red cherry fruit, strawberry, a little tart towards the finish but a very feminine Nuits with more finesse than it knows what to do with.: (03/2010)

“A mélange of natural and wood spice adds nuance to the ripe yet airy and primarily red currant and warm earth aromas that is also reflected by the rich, full and seductively textured middle weight flavors that brim with dry extract on the vibrant finish that is supported by integrated and again, ever-so-slightly rustic tannins that avoid any real sense of coarseness. Fine quality here and worth your consideration. *Outstanding*” (01/2011)

“Good full bright red. Flowers and high-toned sweet oak spice currently dominate the nose. Then supple, spicy and oaky on the palate, with a serious tannin/acid spine keeping the wine's fruits under wraps. This will need time to harmonize its slightly spiky acidity. Lovely savory tones on the back end. (ST)” (03/2011)
