2006 Kenzo Estate "Rindo" Napa Valley Proprietary Red

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Kenzo Estate "Rindo" Napa Valley Proprietary Red (90JS, 90RP). Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Rindo (bell flower in Japanese) is a blend of 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by elegant blue and red fruit notes intermixed with tobacco leaf, soy, and spicy barrique in the background. This outstanding, restrained, medium-weight (by California standards) red should drink well for 10-15 years. These are very well made, but also very expensive wines. (RP)" (12/2008)

Kenzo Estate is one of Napa Valley's premier boutique wine properties. At nearly 4,000 acres, it's a treasure trove of preserved wild lands, surrounding 150 acres of Napa's finest mountain-side terroir. Winery note: "Vineyard of Abundant Grapes – rindo, meaning purple bell or gentian flower, connects the beautiful purple hue of the grapes, that when grown abundantly resemble the shape of many bells hanging in the field. Rindo is the flagship red wine of Kenzo Estate. It is the singular expression of our magnificent vineyard and is an alluring mosaic of Bordeaux varietals."

James Suckling

Nice blueberries, cassis, and hints of fresh earth come through on the nose. Full bodied with soft and silky tannins and a delicious juicy fruit character. This is good, no need to wait on this. 14+22+22+32. Find the wine (04/2011)
