Winemaker Mike Smith boasts an impressive resumé from time spent at several Napa heavyweights, including Maybach, Outpost, Rivers-Marie, and his own label, Myriad. Quivet Mike's second venture on his own, sourcing fruit from impeccable yet under-the-radar Napa vineyard sites. The Napa Valley cuvée is a blend of select barrels from each of these sites, chosen for their upfront charm and exuberant expression out of the gate. This is the Quivet wine that shows off Mike's talent and the quality of his fruit, while the single-vineyard gems do their thing in the cellar. Deep, ripe fruit compote dominates the nose along with exotic spices, while the palate is a classic composition of robust berry flavors along with sleek, persistent tannins. Quivet’s Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from select valley and hillside sites, where well-drained soils and Napa’s hallmark diurnal swings deliver both ripeness and structural definition. The 2018 shows polished dark cherry and blackberry framed by graphite, cocoa, and subtle cedar from carefully judged oak. On the palate, fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity give the wine a smooth, confident line, carrying savory depth and mineral nuance into a long, composed finish.
