“The new bottling of Taittinger Prestige Rosé non-vintage Brut is composed of a blend of fifty percent chardonnay, thirty percent Pinot Noir and twenty percent Pinot Meunier. It spent three years aging sur latte prior to disgorgement. Half of the Pinot Noir in the blend is vinified as still red wine. The wine offers up its classic deep salmon color and a lovely, vibrant nose of strawberries, blood orange, wheat toast, a fine base of chalky soil, delicate spice tones (nutmeg and a touch of saffron) and a touch of violets in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and nicely balanced, with a good core, refined mousse and fine length and grip on the zesty finish. This has excellent acidity and will age nicely, but is already drinking with style. (Drink between 2017-2030)” (05/2017)

“Orange zest, peaches and grilled nectarines on the nose. The palate delivers a gently spicy kick, with more strawberry and raspberry. A real riot of fruits. Drink now.” (10/2017)

“Taittinger's intensely colored NV Brut Prestige Rosé is a blend of 35% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Meunier (with 30% Reserve wines) that gets its raspberry color from 15% red Pinot Noir still wine sourced in the Montagne de Reims. Displaying raspberry and strawberry paté flavors on the subtle but aromatic nose, this is a very delicate, fresh and elegant Brut Rosé with a round but stimulatingly dry and finely grippy finish. It's not meant to be disparaging when I mention that some fruit drops flavors on the nose and finish and note it's toward the border of what I taste as dry. Tasted in November 2017 from a bottle that was said to be disgorged on February 15, 2017, after almost three years on the lees, with a dosage of nine grams per liter. (SR)” (11/2017)

“Light orange-pink. Cherry, orange zest and fresh rose aromas show very good clarity and energy. Sappy red fruit flavors display a spicy quality, picking up energy and a floral nuance with air. Concentrated, vibrant and precise, finishing on a zesty mineral note, with lingering spiciness and firm grip. (JR)” (01/2015)

“Spice and graphite accents lace flavors of crushed raspberry and peach, mineral, biscuit and candied lime zest in this open-knit rosé Champagne. Firm, with a lively, polished bead. Drink now through 2020. (AN)” (12/2018)

“A distinct petrol character can be found on the strawberry, cherry, citrus peel and softly yeast-inflected scents. The supporting mousse is quite generous if not particularly fine though there is good complexity to the juicy and succulent flavors that offer solid persistence on the moderately dry finish where a hint of bitter cherry pit appears. This is drier than most rosés and there is an interesting contrast between the depth of the mid-palate and the somewhat fruit-driven character of the finale.” (10/2017)

“Broad and straightforward red fruit notes fill this Champagne with pleasant sweetness. It makes a pretty, lasting impression and would serve well as a rosé for weddings.” (12/2016)

“A lively mousse gives this wine an immediately ebullient character. Add to that the soft raspberry flavors, and the wine is a real charmer. Fruity and ripe, it is balanced with just the right acidity to support the fine fruitiness. Drink now. (RV)” (12/2017)

“Red apples, dried orange peel and sweet flowers on the nose. Lovely depth on the medium-bodied palate. An elegant mousse keeps the mature, floral and yeasty flavors on the palate fresh and crisp.” (11/2021)

Connoisseurs Guide
“Just as it did in last year’s survey of sparkling wines, Scharffenberger’s Brut Rosé once again impresses with its fine combination of deep, slightly juicy, very well-stated fruit and integral autolysis. It is a deftly balanced wine with a steady, very long-lasting stream of tiny bubbles, and, although we continue to be happily surprised at the number of affordable sparklers that merit 'Good Value' recommendation, this wine’s buoyancy, intricate layering and careful crafting earns it an especially enthusiastic nod as nothing less than an out-and-out steal at the price. *Good Value*” (12/2020)

“Lasting in its gentle scents of apples, buttered toast and green tea, this is a pretty wine without grand ambitions. There’s refinement to the hints of wild strawberry flavor and a smoothness to the finish. (JG)” (08/2021)

“Delicacy on the nose, with white flowers, stone fruits and pastry notes. Lean to medium body with crisp acidity and fine mousse. Lacks a bit of length and persistency, otherwise good. Chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier.” (07/2024)

“A more restaurant-focused wine, a third of the grapes in the NV Champagne Premier Cru Reserve Exclusive Brut come from 21 Premier Cru villages (half of all the Premier Cru in the region). Medium straw-colored, it has more intensity and a more linear drive, offering notes of fleshy stone fruits and a touch of saltiness. Aged only in stainless steel, it’s medium-bodied, with fresh red berries and pithy orange citrus as well as a pleasant toastiness, and the mousse is frothy and pillowy. (AF)” (12/2025)
