2015 Domaine du Jaugaret, St. Julien

Domaine du Jaugaret is a small family estate in Saint-Julien that has been in the Fillastre family since 1654, with Jean-François Fillastre as the current proprietor, farming 1.32 hectares across seven to eight plots planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, old-vine Malbec, and Petit Verdot on the deep gravel beds characteristic of the appellation. The estate's combination of old vines, unfertile soils, and naturally low yields produces wines in the most classical Saint-Julien tradition, aged for approximately three years before release.
