2020 Cellier Saint Benoit Arbois Pupillin "La Ronde Ploussard"
Quantity: 1
Bottle Size: 750 ml
Provenance: Purchased from reputable sources and stored in the temperature controlled wine cellar of a Los Angeles based collector and repeat consignor with K&L Auctions.
Cellier Saint Benoît is rooted in the Sud Revermont, a cooler pocket of Jura where marl and limestone sharpen acidity and give the reds a lifted, almost airy feel. Founded in 1958 as a growers’ co-op in Hauteroche, it draws from a wide patchwork of small sites, many at higher elevation, which helps preserve freshness in a warming climate. Poulsard is the calling card here. Naturally pale and light, it leans savory with wild strawberry, dried rose, and a touch of forest floor, less about power and more about texture and intrigue. The cellar has trended cleaner in recent years, keeping the traditional Jura character but with brighter fruit and a little more precision. If anything, not every bottling leans oxidative as heavily as the old stereotype suggests, which feels like progress rather than compromise.
