2022 Booker Paso Robles Tempranillo
95
James Suckling
Review Date: 08/2024Savory and earthy notes of blackberry compote, mocha and dried herbs on the nose. The palate is full-bodied with firmly integrated tannins and bright acidity, showing dark cherries, cocoa beans and licorice. Very polished and tightly wound. Drinkable now, but best from 2028.

The 2022 Tempranillo wafts up with a pretty blend of dusty rose, cedar shavings and dried strawberries. It splashes across the palate with ease, lifted and juicy in style, with ripe red berry fruit complicated by a hint of autumnal spice. Nuances of citrus mingle with edgy tannins and a tart blackberry tinge. The finish is long yet surprisingly fresh and just lightly structured. Only a short stay in the cellar will unlock further depth, as the 2022 is already showing beautifully. (EG)
