The 2021 Authenticity Proprietary Red is made from 100% Syrah, which was aged 18 months in French oak barrels and puncheons, 48% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, juicy plums, ripe blackberries, and Morello cherries notes jump from the glass, plus nuances of dark chocolate, violets, and tar. The full-bodied palate is packed with floral-laced black fruit layers, supported by ripe, rounded tannins and great tension, finishing long with a savory lift. (LPB)

All Syrah, the 2021 Authenticity comes mostly from the Paderewski Vineyard (94%) and the rest from the York Mountain Vineyard, and it was aged 18 months in French oak barrels and puncheons. Its saturated purple hue is followed by a behemoth styled nose of ripe blue and black fruits, ground pepper, iron, and graphite. This carries to a full-bodied Syrah that has a deep, layered, unctuous mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great, great finish. Despite its overall size and richness, this stays flawlessly balanced and light on its feet.

The 2021 Authenticity comes mostly from the Paderewski Vineyard (plus 6% from York Mountain) and was matured for 18 months in 48% new French oak barrels and puncheons. It has a pure, alluring perfume of lilac and lavender complementing its dark fruit, plus accents of menthol, bitter chocolate and oolong tea leaves. The full-bodied palate balances concentrated, nuanced fruit with abundant, grainy tannins and bursts of refreshing acidity, and it has a very long, perfumed finish. 540 cases were made, which will be released in the fall of 2024. Dark-fruited and floral, with notes of cassis, licorice and blackberries. The palate is rich and rounded with fine tannins, giving complex notes of blueberry compote, blackcurrants, mocha and sweet spices. A powerful wine that will age for decades to come. Drinkable now, but best from 2028.
