2001 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate - Le Coste" Barolo

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate - Le Coste" Barolo (95RP, 95VN, 94IWR, 93ST). Vinous: "The 2001 Barolo Brunate is in a good place today, as the bouquet is expressive and the tannins have begun to melt away. A brooding, somewhat rustic, and austere Barolo, the 2001 delivers plenty of Rinaldi character but with a bit more fruit and less severe tannins than vintages like 1999 and 1996. This is a gorgeous bottle. (AG)" (05/2017)

Wine Advocate

The 2001 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste is big, plush and totally inviting. Layers of dark, balsamic-infused fruit blossom in the glass as this deep, spherical wine shows off its pedigree. There is little question the wine’s best days lie in the future. (AG) (04/2012)

Int'l Wine Review

The 2001 Brunate - Le Coste is an absolutely magnificent traditional style of Barolo from Giuseppe Rinaldi. This opens to pretty aromatics of cherries and red berries laced with violets, licorice, tar, balsamic and spices, which all take shape in the glass. This is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced and structured with a gorgeous silky texture and lovely underlying acidity. The finish is long and pretty, with notes of berries, spices and a chocolate-licorice character, which continue to linger effortleson sly. Giuseppe Rinaldi is a true master when it comes to classic, age worthy Barolo and today, after 15 years, this is only in the early to mid stages of its evolution, and looks to still have a long future ahead. Int'l Wine Cellar

Clear medium red. Perfumed, liqueur-like aromas of redcurrant, brown spices and rose petal. Highly concentrated, with strong fruit but also a lovely light touch, thanks to strong acidity. Complex inner-mouth flavors of flowers, tobacco and mocha. Finishes with firm tannins and lovely grip. Offers very strong potential. (ST) 93+ (11/2004)

Barolo. Medium ruby with brickstone rim. Traditional but with succulence and lightness and with a gentle structure. (WS) (06/2011)
