Domaine de Jouanda is a family estate in Arthez d'Armagnac, in the Grands Crus region of Bas Armagnac, acquired by the Poyferré family in 1879 and producing vintage Armagnacs on tawny clay-siliceous sandy soils that the family has farmed for five generations. The Poyferré name also has a long history in Bordeaux, where the family previously owned Château Léoville Poyferré in St-Julien, and the "Jacques de Poyferré" designation on this bottling is a direct reference to that dual heritage.
