2015 Scarecrow "M. Etain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Bid on this bottle of 2015 Scarecrow "M. Etain" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94JD, 94RP, 92VN). Wine Advocate: "Produced from younger vines on the estate and containing 3.5% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon M Etain reveals a deep garnet-purple color and nose of crème de cassis, dark chocolate and espresso with dried herbs, preserved plums and licorice. Full-bodied and sporting a great concentration of expressive black fruits and spices, it has an approachable frame of grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with herbal and earthy nuances. 94 points, Antonio Galloni for Vinous: "Scarecrow's 2015 M. Etain is plush, rich and inviting, all of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, spice and sweet floral notes all build as this racy, voluptuous wine shows off its alluring personality. Dense and explosive, the M. Etain will also give readers a very good idea of what is in store with Scarecrow. The 2015 is flat-out delicious. If you can find it, don't miss it." (01/2018)

Jeb Dunnuck

The 2015 M. Etain from winemaker Celia Welch is a beautiful wine but due to the devastating yields, there’s just a tiny 400 cases produced (there’s close to 2,000 cases of the 2014). It offers terrific amounts of crème de cassis, roasted herbs, chocolate, and graphite nuances in a full-bodied, rounded, concentrated style that’s already impossible to resist. A blend of almost all Cabernet Sauvignon (there’s a small amount of Petit Verdot) that was brought up in 80% new French oak. (12/2017)

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon M. Étain is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next handful of years, as it is peaking. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, worn-in leather and coffee are front and center. Supple contours add tons of allure. (AG) (11/2020)
