“Also more finesse oriented than normal, the 2011 Oublie is a great blend of 38% Syrah, 23% Counoise, 20% Mourvedre and the balance Grenache. Spending 16 months in barrel, it gives up big bing cherry, licorice, pepper and complex underbrush-like qualities to go with a medium to full-bodied, seamless mouthfeel that stays remarkably well- focused and precise. Beautiful stuff that offers both richness and freshness, it will age gracefully for over a decade. (JD)” (08/2013)

“Inky purple. Smoky black and blue fruit scents pick up an elegant floral element with air. Juicy, penetrating blueberry and bitter cherry flavors display very good energy and put on weight with air. Notes of succulent herbs and Indian spices come up on the finish, which is framed by smooth, harmonious tannins. (JR)” (12/2013)

“Expressive and impressively structured, with savory blackberry aromas and accents of rosemary, thyme and crushed stone, opening to complex, densely layered flavors of currant, pepper and espresso. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Counoise. *Ranked #10 Top 100 Wines of 2017* (TF)” (03/2017)

“Deep ruby. Intensely perfumed cherry compote, licorice and spicecake aromas open up with air and pick up suggestions of floral pastilles and smoky minerals. Stains the palate with lively, spice-tinged black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors lifted by a vibrant mineral element. At once concentrated and lithe, finishing with powerful thrust, youthful tannins and very persistent spice and mineral qualities. (JR)” (09/2016)

Jeb Dunnuck's notes on the producer: "One of the leaders of the Paso wine scene is undoubtedly Eric Jensen’s Booker Vineyard (I’ve affectionately called this group the motley crew before). Jensen and his wife Lisa purchased these 72 acres in 2001, with their wines released in 2005. Since then, the wines have evolved from uber rich and forward, to today where they’re more polished, complete and structured. Looking at his 2015s, which Jensen compared to his 2010 and 2013s, they show the more elegant style of the vintage, yet pack plenty of fruit and texture. His 2016s are certainly bigger wines, yet have plenty of tannin and a focused style on the palate which I suspect will benefit from short term cellaring. In addition to his Rhône variety releases and blends, it’s worth pointing out the quality coming from his Cabernet Sauvignons as well. These are seriously good wines!" (08/2017)

“The 2015 Oublie checks in as a Mourvèdre heavy blend of 38% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 23% Syrah and 9% Counoise. Its deep ruby, yet translucent color is followed by an exotic bouquet of spiced plums, white pepper, menthol and pepper meat. The Mourvèdre really shines here, and it’s full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with savory tannin and powerful, yet light texture. This wine shows the more forward, supple style of the vintage, yet will have a broad drink window given its overall balance.” (08/2017)

“Composed of 38% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 23% Syrah and 9% Counoise, the 2015 Oublie has a medium garnet-purple color and earth-scented nose of tar, sautéed herbs and fertile loam with a core of red currants, cranberry sauce and warm blackberries, plus a touch of bay leaves. Full-bodied and beautifully poised in the mouth, the muscular fruit is nicely matched by a firm, chewy backbone and it finishes with persistent earth and herbal layers. (LPB)” (09/2017)

“Saturated ruby. Deeply perfumed, spice-tinged aromas of black raspberry, floral oils, smoky minerals and vanilla; a mineral nuance builds in the glass. Juicy and densely packed but energetic as well, conveying a suave blend of power and finesse to the sweet red and blue fruit, violet pastille and spicecake flavors. Delivers a serious punch but comes off lithe, showing outstanding clarity and floral drive on an extremely long, gently tannic finish. 45% new puncheons. (JR)” (02/2020)

“The 2017 Oublié is a blend of 56% Grenache, 22% Syrah and 22% Mourvèdre aged in 35% new French oak. Medium to deep ruby, it has broody aromas of black cherries, underbrush, cured meats, dried red currants and dried cranberries with touches of graphite. The palate is medium to full-bodied and earthy with firm, grainy tannins and great freshness to lift the long, dense finish. (EB)” (02/2020)

“Starting with the Oublie cuvée, this is the GSM blend from the estate that’s more Grenache-dominated. The 2018 Oublie checks in as 40% Grenache and 30% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre brought up in a mix of new and used French oak. Its vivid purple hue is followed by a gorgeous perfume of sweet black raspberries, white flowers, candied orange, and violets. This beauty is rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, yet has incredible purity of fruit, silky tannins, and an incredible sense of freshness. It makes you salivate on the finish and is already impossible to resist.” (09/2020)

“A hugely perfumed nose evokes ripe red/blue fruits, cherry pie, potpourri and incense, complemented by a spicy top-note. Alluringly sweet and seamless in texture, offering palate-staining cherry, black raspberry, lavender pastille and spice-cake flavors that deepen steadily through the midpalate. Shows superb energy for its heft and betrays no rough edges. The long, penetrating finish features rounded tannins and a whiplash of juicy red fruit preserves and candied flowers. (JR)” (12/2020)

“The barrel sample of the 2018 Oublié is made up of 38% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre and 27% Syrah aging in 45% new French oak. Deep ruby-purple, it slowly offers cassis, boysenberries, blueberries and red berry sparks with loads of floral perfume plus hints of olive and charcuterie. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is silky with slowly unfurling red, black and blue fruits wrapped in a firm, finely grained frame and fantastic freshness, finishing long and perfumed. “Broad-shouldered and deeply structured, with floral blueberry and raspberry flavors that are laced with lavender, bitter chocolate and crushed stone. The tannins tighten the finish. Hands off for now. (TF)” (01/2022)
