Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98VN, 95RP). Vinous: "David Abreu's 2010 Thorevilos stands apart from all of the other wines in this range for its massive, inky concentration. It is also the last of these wines to be released, which may explain its intense power. A host of graphite, smoke, incense, tobacco, spice and black fruit gradually open up, but the 2010 is a wine for the future. I won't touch another bottle until at least age ten, even though that is almost certainly not going to be enough time to find the wine at its peak of expression. (AG) 98+" (06/2015)

Praise from Robert Parker: "Abreu, who first established his reputation as Napa Valley’s premier viticulturist, and who has a list of clients that reads like the guest list at the Ritz Hotel in Paris on New Year’s Eve, is impressive. While he clearly suffers no fools, his formula is intense work in the vineyard, radical viticulture techniques such as shoot positioning, crop-thinning, and a belief that the vine is never happier than when its in the shadow of its owner. His efforts and obsessive-compulsive work in the vineyards can’t be underestimated when it comes to seeing the results of what is produced in the bottle. These are spectacular wines year after year. Even in a challenging vintage such as 2011, Abreu’s viticultural work has paid off, even from the valley floor vineyards of Cappella and Madrona Ranch." (10/2013)

Wine Advocate
“The 2010 Thorevilos seemed more tannic and backward than the 2009, which is somewhat of an anomaly in my tastings of these two vintages. Lots of espresso roast, white chocolate, blueberry, black raspberry and floral aromas jump from the glass, but the wine hits the palate with a crescendo of fruit, glycerin and body. Elevated tannins then kick in giving the wine a huge structure as well as a Bordeaux-like austerity. (RP) 95+” (10/2013)
