2023 Summer Dreams (Hundred Acre) "Afterglow" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

That time in the evening when the sun has slipped below the horizon and a calm settles into the air—that’s pure zen for me in Chardonnay. Woodbridge wanted something perfectly balanced to capture that moment between night and day, that last breath you take as the sun dips—a magical time that, for him, recalls the stillness of morning. The wine reflects that ideal: balanced and expressive, with citrus fruit, sea salt, white flowers, apples and pears, and a rich depth of flavour that lingers like the light after sunset. Truly, that’s not hyperbole—it has beautiful linearity and a crystalline purity, with a wet, stony minerality that shimmers on the finish. The fruit comes from a ten-acre vineyard planted on a granitic knoll climbing a south-west-facing hillside in a windy spot near a granite quarry—entirely single-vineyard fruit. (JC)
