Vinous
“(Rossignol vinified this fruit with 50% whole clusters as there was less hail here): Bright red-ruby. Complex, enticing aromas of blackberry, blueberry, spices and underbrush, plus a whiff of leather. Delivers lovely intensity to its dark berry flavors, with limestone energy giving the wine good tension in the mouth. Nothing monolithic about this Volnay! Finishes with serious tactile tannins and excellent length. In the future Rossignol plans to give this wine more time in barrel. (ST)” (11/2015)

Burghound
“There is enough wood to comment on framing the quite densely fruited nose that consists of notes of red currant, cherry, pomegranate and plenty of floral characters. There is a lovely mouth feel to the supple and round flavors thanks to the relatively pliant tannins that are quite fine, all wrapped in a lingering, mineral-inflected and well-balanced finale. This is one of those delicious if entirely serious wines that should drink well young but also reward up to a decade of cellar time. Lovely and recommended.” (04/2016)

Wine Advocate
“The 2014 Volnay 1er Cru Chevret has a little more tension and complexity compared to the Caillerets, blackberry, cold stone and a touch of bilberry jam coming through while maintaining its precision. The palate is very nicely balanced, the 50% whole cluster fruit very discrete, with fine mineralité and impressive tension on the precise, tensile and linear finish. There is a touch of conservatism here, but I like the energy here that I hope will be in position once in bottle. (NM)” (12/2015)
