James Suckling
“Plenty of violets and dark berries on offer here. This has a striking sense of purity as well as an energetic, regal palate. The structure is impressively groomed with effortless depth and length. A standout wine. Try from 2022.” (02/2018)

“At the time of tasting this is the most recently bottled vintage. There is lightly degraded red cherry fruit on the nose, dried hedgerow fruits and wild plum too, with a little tobacco leaf, and it is still wearing some toffee and caramel barrel spice at the moment. There follows a nicely poised palate, expressive, with a fine substance, elegant and medium-bodied, with quite firm, imposing but tightly-grained tannins. This attractive structural bed carries the fruit sense from the nose, here spiced with cigar box and tobacco, the oak coming through, adding a toasted note to the finish. It shows a good length. Overall this is quite charming, fresh and savoury, with plenty of potential for the cellar.” (05/2018)

“The 2015 Giscours has a well-defined nose with vibrant red berry fruit, violet, iris flower and hints of camphor developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins, yet this is finely chiseled with wonderful tension toward the persistent and precise finish. This is excellent and it aligns with the impressive showing in October 2024. (NM)” (02/2025)

“Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Giscours opens with expressive cassis, blackberry and red currants on the nose with touches of cedar chest, roses and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied with a good core of muscular fruit and firm, grainy tannins, it finishes long. (LPB) 94+” (02/2018)

Jane Anson
“A ton of espresso and cocoa bean grilling on the opening, softening through to damson, black cherry, orange peel, touch of heat and this needs longer in bottle to soften out the concentrated, slightly awkward tannins. Suggest giving this a few more years in bottle, because there is plenty of potential but not giving its best. 50% new oak for ageing. Harvest September 15 to October 10. Wine Spectator
“Polished and rounded in feel, with a solid core of plum and blackberry compote flavors, lined with light hints of charcoal, tobacco and violet. Nice perfumy tobacco and warm tar notes show on the finish. Very well-integrated, making this approachable now, but there's no rush. (JM)” (03/2018)

“Perfumed, seductive nose. Rather salty and salivatory. A little bit chunky and earthbound but lots of pleasure is available here. A nice typical wine that expresses the charm of the vintage well. 17/20 points. (JR)” (10/2017)
