Dutton-Goldfield was founded in 1998 by fifth-generation grower Steve Dutton and winemaker Dan Goldfield, a partnership formed to highlight the clarity and structure of cool-climate Russian River Valley and Green Valley vineyards. The winery draws on the Dutton family’s farming legacy, established in the mid-1960s when Warren Dutton began planting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the coldest parts of the Russian River Valley. Production focuses on small-lot, vineyard-specific Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with additional bottlings of Pinot Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Most fruit comes from Dutton Ranch’s 80-plus vineyards, where careful site selection and sustainable farming shape wines known for brightness, balance, and precise expression of place.

Cornell Vineyards began when Henry and Vanessa Cornell purchased rugged, long-fallow land in the Mayacamas Range west of the Spring Mountain District roughly twenty years ago, restoring historic vineyard sites once farmed by early settlers. The estate spans 200 acres, with 20 meticulously farmed vineyard blocks shaped by dramatic elevation, varied exposures, and soils derived from volcanic rock, sandstone, shale, cobblestone, and loamy clay. Under the guidance of Françoise Peschon and Elizabeth Tangney, the team farms each block according to its microclimate and soil type, harvesting and vinifying lots separately to preserve the site’s complexity. Production remains intentionally small, with only the finest parcels selected for the final estate wines.
