Bid on this 3-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2003 Darioush Napa Valley Merlot, 1-bottle of 2004 Bugay Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1-bottle of 2004 Spring Mountain Vineyard "Elivette" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (93W&S, 93WE, 90RP). Of the 2004 Spring Mountain Vineyard "Elivette" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend, Wine Enthusiast writes: "Scents of wild blueberries and mineral tannins fill this dark, supple wine. It's dense, rich and savory, with powerful tannins that hold on through a tight finish. This is primarily cabernet sauvignon (80 percent) with small amounts of petit verdot, merlot and cabernet franc. It's the top selection from Spring Mountain Vineyards' 225 acres of vines and shows the warmth of the early 2004 harvest with lovely textural grace. Probably best ten years from the vintage." 2003 Darioush Napa Valley Merlot

Darioush is one of Napa Valley’s more distinctive luxury estates, founded in 1997 by Iranian-born collector Darioush Khaledi. The winery sits along Highway 29 in Oak Knoll, where gravelly loam soils and moderate temperatures favor Bordeaux varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the lineup, backed by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and a small but notable Shiraz that nods to Persian heritage. Farming focuses on estate vineyards across Oak Knoll and Mount Veeder, with careful canopy work and low yields to build concentration. Winemaking leans polished but structured, with French oak aging and a clear emphasis on texture and ageability. The style lands between Napa power and classical restraint, with ripe fruit framed by firm tannin and savory spice.

“A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 7% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2004 Elivette Proprietary Red Wine spent 22 months in French oak and 24 months in bottle prior to release. Made in a more generous style, it exhibits plenty of raspberry and blueberry fruit notes intermixed with a hint of spring flowers, an attractive texture, fine purity as well as elegance, and a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Bugay Vineyards is a family-owned estate founded by John Bugay on a 200-acre parcel high in the Mayacamas Mountains of Sonoma County, with the estate vineyard carved from steep south-facing terrain at approximately 1,200 feet elevation on extremely rocky, volcanic soils with naturally balanced pH. Over 80% of the property remains wooded, with all vineyard work done by hand on the steep gradient, vines grown using biodynamic practices, and fruit harvested based on optimal maturity across multiple passes through each block. Winemaker Randall Watkins, who holds a master's degree in enology from UC Davis and previously worked at Carmenet Winery and Moon Mountain Vineyard, has overseen production at the estate.
