Coming from the heart of this terroir and mostly from sandy soils with a small part of pebbly soils and even a touch of limestone, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Trois Sources delivers gorgeous aromatics of black raspberries, spring flowers, framboise, white pepper, and a beautiful salinity and minerality. It's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel with the juicy, pure style of the 2023s here, fine tannins, and a gorgeous finish. This is pure Grenache heaven with classic Châteauneuf du Pape power and richness yet paired with remarkable finesse and elegance. It should cruise for two decades in cool cellars.

A ripe style, with a cascade of sappy cherry and melted licorice on a juicy, richly styled palate. Smoky and slightly chewy, with dark earth and anise. The broad, weighty finish ripples with graphite and salt. A lot of wine expertly packed into a well-meshed, mineral-lined frame. (KB)

Vinified with a tiny amount of whole bunches, the 2023 Les Trois Sources reveals aromas of chocolate, violet, dark cherries and spices. Medium- to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it’s harmonious and seamless with a fleshy core of fruit and velvety tannins, concluding with a long, floral and precise finish. Reaching the same heights as the equally enticing 2022 I tasted last year, the 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Trois Sources is splendid. Pronounced spicebox, licorice, ripe raspberry and garrigue aromatics are all pushed forward. Maintaining impeccable freshness despite its lofty 16% alcohol, the full-bodied 2023 is going to delight for years to come. On top of that, it’s going to provide pleasure right out of the gate. (NG)

Domaine de la Vieille Julienne is a historic Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate run by Jean-Paul Daumen, whose family has farmed in the region for generations. The domaine farms approximately 20 contiguous hectares in the northern part of the appellation, with vineyards planted primarily over clay and limestone soils mixed with the region’s characteristic galets roulés. The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, with the estate holding Demeter certification. Les Trois Sources comes from a 7-hectare parcel situated on gentle slopes between Clavin and Les Hauts-Lieux, with vines averaging around 75 years of age. The soils are a complex mix of sandy safres, rounded pebbles and red clay, particularly well suited to Grenache and giving the wine a balance of richness and finesse. Grenache leads the blend, supported by a broad collection of traditional Châteauneuf varieties including Cinsault, Syrah, Counoise, Mourvèdre and several lesser-planted red and white varieties. *Biodynamic*
