Bid on this 5-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2005 Ormes de Pez, St-Estèphe (92WE, 90JS) and 4-bottles of 2019 Ormes de Pez, St-Estèphe (94DC, 94JD, 93JS, 93WE, 92VN, 92WS, 90RP). Of the 2019 Ormes de Pez, St-Estèphe, Jeb Dunnuck writes: "Coming from the Cazes team, the 2019 Château Ormes De Pez is gorgeous and shines in the vintage. Pure crème de cassis, mulberries, leafy herbs, Asian spices, and lead pencil all emerge on the nose, and this medium to full-bodied 2019 has the vintage’s pure, focused, elegant style while staying ripe, supple, and textured. The balance is spot on, and it's going to hit maturity in roughly 8-10 years and have two decades of prime drinking. (JD)" (04/2022)

Expressive, vibrant, supper mid-palate with a sweet lovely texture. 53 hectoliters per hectare and 13.3% alcohol, but the wine does not show the alcohol. More vibrant on palate. Wine Enthusiast
“Very dense, black, dominated by dark tannins and plum skins, with a mineral edge. The acidity and the ripe fruits are under all this structure, typical of young Saint-Estèphe... (RV)” (06/2008)

“The aromas of walnut shell, chocolate and berries are all there. Full body with soft, velvety tannins and a fruity finish. Already ready to drink.” (06/2013)

91 points Antonio Galloni in Vinous: "The 2019 Ormes de Pez is laced with savory herbs, leather, licorice, herbs, tobacco, dark fruit, and expressive earthy undertones. There is good breadth and plenty of personality leading into the grippy finish. Drink this potent, pleasantly rustic Saint-Estèphe over the next decade or so." (02/2022)

Decanter
“Intense nose, smells powerful, strong and structured. Excellent energy, this is good quality, quite bold and rich, velvety and clearly powerful with tannins that are at the fore right now and totally cover the mouth. This has a juicy appeal though with bright strawberry and cherry fruit flavours and a minty fresh finish. Lovely overall appeal. (GH)” (01/2022)

The Wine Palate
“Composed of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Ormes de Pez is deep garnet-purple colored. It offers open-knit scents of plum preserves and baked blackberries with hints of blackcurrant cordial, roses, Chinese five spice, and Provence herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has tightly knit fruit and firm, grainy tannins, finishing long and mineral-tinged. (LPB)” (05/2026)

James Suckling
“This shows lots of spice, such as cloves and nutmeg, together with dark berries and cherries and some plums. It’s structured and relatively dense, with lovely length and beauty. Needs time to open and come together. 50% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon with cabernet franc and petit verdot. Lovely now.” (02/2022)

Wine Enthusiast
“Big and full of tannins and structure, this is packed with dark fruits with a dry core. The wine's weight is impressive, density and richness. (RV)” (10/2022)

Vinous
“The 2019 Ormes de Pez has a more Merlot-driven bouquet (54% of the blend), a little fleshier than its peers, quite pure with raspberry and cranberry scents. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry, good depth, though it does not deliver the precision of the Dame de Montrose and feels more muscular towards the finish. Yet that should see it age well over the next couple of decades. (NM)” (02/2023)

Wine Spectator
“Offers a delightful mix of dark fruit and fresh flavors, with plum and blackberry notes infused with dark tea, singed cedar and licorice root, all carried by sleek acidity through the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. (JM)” (03/2022)

Wine Advocate
“The 2019 Ormes de Pez exhibits generous aromas of sweet berry fruit, rose petals and pencil shavings, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and seamless palate that's bright and integrated, with an elegantly fleshy core of fruit, fine tannins and a saline finish. Produced by the Cazes family of Château Lynch-Bages, this is invariably one of the most charming, friendly wines of Saint-Estèphe. (WK)” (04/2022)
