Bid on this bottle of 2007 Spottswoode "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100JD, 100RP, 98JS, 94DC, 94VN, 94W&S). Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet colored with a lingering hint of purple, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon comes sashaying out of the glass with provocative notions of warm cassis, blueberry compote, blackberry pie and violets with chocolate box, licorice and menthol nuances plus wafts of wilted roses, lavender and kirsch. Medium-bodied, the intensely perfumed black and blue fruit flavors glide gracefully across the palate, revealing a myriad of earth and spice accents, all framed beautifully with super ripe, fine-grained tannins and invigorating freshness, finishing very, very long. Wow. (LPB)" (08/2018)

99 points Robert Parker: "In 2007, there was another small crop with only 1,700+ cases produced, from a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. An absolutely staggering nose of blueberries, white flowers, crème de cassis, licorice and graphite is followed by a full-bodied, opulent, multidimensional wine that is seamless. Incredible fruit intensity, purity and depth of character make this one of the great, great classics in the Spottswoode lineup. This wine can be approached now, but it is nowhere near full maturity, and should evolve for at least another 30-40+ years. Owners of this vintage have liquid gold in their cellars." (08/2016)

“The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate continues to show how special this vintage was for the valley and is pure perfection to my palate. Ripe and sexy, with off-the-charts sexiness, it just about jumps from the glass with ample red, black, and blue fruits are interwoven with tobacco leaf, spice box, flowers, and incense-like aromas and flavors. Still youthful, it’s as seamless as they come and has a deep, layered, multi-dimensional texture, one stacked mid-palate, awesome tannins, and a great finish. It’s one of the most exuberant, sexy wines in the lineup, but it still shows classic Spottswoode purity, elegance, and balance. Don’t miss it!” (05/2021)

“What a nose on this wine. So intense and powerful, with cassis, currants, and licorice. Amazing stuff. Full and very soft, with wonderful soft yet focused tannins and juicy fruit. Pure and beautiful. Give this three years of bottle age before trying it.” (04/2011)

“The 2007 Spottswoode soars from the glass with aromas of creamy blueberry, blackberry and plum that are still pretty primary. 2007 was a very ripe vintage in Napa Valley, but this wine has lost none of its customary elegance in this warm year, retaining a lovely core of fresh acidity and pure fruit. “Deep, bright ruby. Very ripe but reduced nose shows a chocolatey ripeness to the primary flavors of cassis, blueberry and licorice. Densely packed and powerful, conveying a tactile texture to the sweet flavors of black fruits, tobacco and spicecake. Firm acidity gives clarity and definition to the middle palate of this very concentrated wine. Finishes savory, deeply spicy and firmly tannic, with terrific length and grip. (ST)” (05/2016)

“The Novak family farms 40 acres of vines behind their Victorian house in western St. Helena, producing cabernet that’s notable for its elegance rather than overt richness or power. There’s coolness to this 2007, with scents that hint at the forests of the Mayacamas. The fruit is bright with cranberry edges, red cherry, plum and floral notes, lasting with minerality. The balance and refreshing savor marks this as a wine that will age with grace.” (12/2011)
