Of the 2007 Luciano Sandrone "Le Vigne" Barolo, Wine Advocate writes: "The 2007 Barolo Le Vigne presents a beguiling combination of explosive, ripe fruit and finessed silky tannins that make it a thrilling wine to taste, even at this stage in its development. Small red berries, minerals, crushed flowers, vanillin and sweet spices are woven together in a fabric of undescribable elegance. The French oak has never been better balanced, while the vibrant, crystalline finish leaves a lasting impression. The 2007 Le Vigne has all the potential to develop into a spectacular wine--actually, it already is. This is a totally stunning bottle of Barolo. (AG)" (02/2011)

James Suckling

Blueberries, flowers and raspberries on the nose. Full bodied, with velvety tannins and a long caressing finish. Lots of toasted oak. Impressive intensity and richness to this. (05/2011)

Wine Enthusiast

This gorgeous Barolo has a penetrating, dark color and generous aromas of black cherry, tar, leather, tobacco, spice, black truffle and Spanish cedar. The intensity and power is impressive, and the mouthfeel is packed tight with ripe fruit flavors and a bold structure. *Cellar Selection* (09/2012)

Wine Spectator

A lush texture frames blackberry, plum and spice flavors, upheld by the dense, steely structure. Well-proportioned, this needs time for the sweet fruit and structure to harmonize. Very long, with a core of cherry lingering. (BS) (04/2012)

Vinous

Bright, dark red. Dark raspberry, chocolate and coffee on the nose; smells clearly riper than the 2008. Fat, sweet and plump, with a texture of liquid velvet. Surprising acidity and substantial but smooth tannins give this very ripe Barolo excellent spine. Finishes with a note of menthol. (ST) (11/2011)

Wine & Spirits

Mineral power infuses the cranberry and strawberry flavors of this wine with a ferrous intensity. The tannins feel light and elegant but powerful in their grip. There’s a hint of gaminess to the flavor that should open into complexity as the wine ages. (12/2011)

Monica Larner of Wine Advocate writes: "There are various categories of winemakers: commercial winemakers, artisan winemakers, biodynamic winemakers, natural winemakers and so forth. Then, there is the farmer winemaker, and this is a category that is particularly prolific in Italy. Lorenzo Accomasso is one of these. I'm not sure how he functions in a modern world without the technology we rely on so heavily. Lorenzo Accomasso is stuck at the fax machine, and even then I got the distinct impression that he mentioned his fax only to make the proverbial bella figura. He later admitted the fax was broken anyway." (06/2018)

Wine Advocate

Lorenzo Accomasso's 2010 Barolo is a beautiful wine that is worth tracking down, although chances are you won't find it. I can't begin to describe what I went through to get this bottle to taste for review (including a very folkloric sit-down with Mr. Accomasso in his disheveled front office, after which, by the way, I have no idea what I really tasted). I ask for your understanding in advance if reviews are not readily available for future new releases. I'm not sure I have the stamina to jump though all those hoops each and every year. This review is based on a bottle I purchased from the enoteca in La Morra. The wine opens to a deep ruby color with soft, yielding tones of cherry, dried blackberry and plum. It shows a slow bottle evolution with primary fruit that is still intact and bright. (ML) 94+ (06/2018)
