Cassis, graphite, liquid violets, and tobacco all define the 2025 Château Brane-Cantenac, a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 1% each Cabernet Franc, Carménère, and Petit Verdot that's being raised in 100% new French oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a focused, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful concentration and depth, integrated acidity, and a great finish. Hitting 13.5% alcohol, it's a brilliant success in the vintage and should be snatched up by readers.

Ripe and juicy blackcurrant aromas, really pure and expressive, fruit forward with iris notes as well. Juicy and friendly with such a lifted, bright and energetic core but grippy too, really wide and filling with the structure and concentration matching the acidity step for step. Firm and streamlined, but there’s purity and I do love the slightly more muscular aspect to this. Maybe less charming than previous vintages but more sophisticated. Clarity is exceptional. Lovely and long.

This is luscious and full of wonderfully bright fruits, great concentration, cushion of air underneath, high Cabernet and it comes through in the floral aromatics, clearly a plentiful tannic structure but luscious and layered damson and black cherry. Yes yes yes.

A medium-bodied and solid red with blackberry, chocolate, meat and walnut character. It shows juicy tannins and a long finish. Persistent and classy. Such length and balance.

Brane‑Cantenac is building on an incredible run with this 2025, a stunning wine that once again marries true Margaux typicité with extraordinary elegance and depth. From the start, it’s aromatically Margaux to its core, offering lifted black fruits and violets. The palate delivers the château’s signature elegance—precise, pure, and effortlessly refined. The fruit profile wavers beautifully between red and black, the texture is seamless, and the tannins are remarkably well‑integrated. The core of this is 80% Cabernet. This is a superb expression of place, property, and vintage—and one of fine wine’s great collectible values. It’s absolutely a release I’d urge people not to miss.

Email ScottThe 2025 Brane-Cantenac shows a poised character already, with a core of sappy blackcurrant and ripe blackberry that immediately anchors the wine in dark, supple fruit. Layered over this are lifted notes of baking spices, adding warmth and aromatic complexity without overpowering the fruit profile. On the nose, there is a subtle but noticeable presence of oak, giving a lightly toasty frame to the aromatics. Hints of mint and bay leaf bring a cool, herbal edge that adds lift and reinforces the wine’s classic Left Bank character. On the palate, there is a sense of harmony between fruit intensity, fresh acidity, and finely grained tannins, all working in concert rather than competing for attention. Overall, this is a wine of excellent balance and composure, already showing integration in its youth while clearly showing that patience will be rewarded once these bottles are in your cellar.

Email ThomasThe 2025 Brand Cantenac rings in at 80% Cabernet, with 18% Merlot, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Carmenere around the edges. The aromatics are impressively pure, while the palate is full of black cherry, and fresh bouquets of violets. Delicious and well structured, with thrilling acidity. It's a wine full of small details that draw you in, and freshness that keeps you interested. A great value, and an even better wine! Well done to the Lurtons.
