Domaine Thomas-Moillard traces back to one of Burgundy’s long-standing merchant-grower families rooted in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The Moillard family held vines before the French Revolution, with the modern house taking shape around 1850 when Symphorien Moillard expanded into wine trading and exports. Over generations, vineyards spread across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, building a broad portfolio that blended estate fruit with négoce activity. Today the wines reflect a balance of tradition and updated cellar work, with controlled yields, careful harvest timing, and parcel-by-parcel vinification in small vats. The style leans toward classic Burgundy structure with emphasis on terroir expression, aiming for wines that are both approachable young and capable of aging.

This 15 Acre (6Ha) single vineyard monopole of the Domaine is located just up the valley from the famous Clos St. Jacques, with more clay and larger stones making up the soil. The vines here are 45 years old. This wine is made in 30-35% new French Oak, and is classic Gevrey, with power and structure, and lots of ripe, well-robed tannins and black fruit notes. Lots here! Domaine de Montille is one of Burgundy’s most respected family estates, renowned for organic and biodynamic farming, traditional winemaking, and a steadfast commitment to expressing terroir with precision and restraint. The vineyard “Aux Saints-Juliens” lies in the southern sector of Nuits-St-Georges, where limestone-rich soils and a cooler exposition produce Pinot Noir that combines the appellation’s characteristic structure with notable elegance and aromatic lift. De Montille’s minimalist approach in both vineyard and cellar allows the site’s earthy minerality, refined tannins, and vibrant red-fruited character to emerge clearly, showcasing a more nuanced expression of Nuits-St-Georges.
