Orange rind and spices, such as cardamom on the nose, together with sourdough and fresh fig . Some salted butter, too. It's creamy, supple and silky, with a salty freshness. Soft bubbles. Long and chalky finish. 100% chardonnay from 90-year-old vines. Base wine fermented in stainless steel. Only made in exceptional vintages. Disgorged after 15 years on lees with 5g/L dosage. Drink or hold. (CN)

The 2008 Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Les Chétillons Cuvée Nicole VV Extra Brut was tasted from magnum, offering a seductive bouquet with delicate, smoky wet stones, preserved lemon peel, crisp yellow apples, and fresh chamomile. Medium-bodied, it has fabulous concentration and balanced length, with a long, persistent, and refreshing spine of acidity flowing through a lengthy finish. It features a fine, pinpoint mousse that enhances the wine's energy. It’s fabulous now, but it’s structured for the long haul over the next two decades. As it opens in the glass, the palate softens just enough to provide a delicate, creamy mousse and a supple, silky texture of citrus oils. Disgorged in December 2024 with 5 grams per liter dosage. Drink 2026-2050. (AF)

This majestic Mesnil Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs comes from 100+ year old Chardonnay vines in the famous Chetillons parcel, and is a simply incredible bottle of champagne. With 14 years of ageing on the lees, it delivers fabulous rich brioche and a very Meursault like subtle pineapple note on the generous bouquet. In the mouth it has the layered, silky texture from time and low yielding ancient vines- but the best part of this great wine is its finish. The final is a peacocks tail- expansive, with deep chalky minerality and 2008 freshness that goes on and on. This is unbelievable wine from the greatest vintage of my career- it isincredible to be able to offer it today!

This is a superb Champagne from one of the best vintages and it is magnificent in its structure and power with lovely brioche and saline minerality that lingers for a long time. Lemon curd and almond paste compliment the boldness of acidity and balance it perfectly. This is a beautiful and complex Champagne worthy of any celebration.
