James Suckling
Reviewed July 2025Fragrant and elegant with an herbal freshness, this is a beautiful expression of cool-climate Burgundy from the warmest vintage ever recorded. Very crisp and crunchy on the generous medium-bodied palate. Excellent energy in the long, tantalizing finish.

Vinous
The 2023 Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre 1er Cru is actually a step up from the preceding pair of Savigny's, with more precision, finely assimilated oak and a subtle pressed flower element emerging with aeration. This articulates its limestone soil. The palate is well balanced as vibrant, citrus-fresh red fruit laced with orange peel leads to a nicely controlled and quite elegant finish. An affordable introduction to the 2023 Burgundy vintage? Step this way.(NM)

Burghound
Moderate wood and menthol influences stop short of overshadowing the spicy and cool red berry fruit-scented nose. The supple but markedly punchy flavors exude an almost aggressive bead of minerality on the dusty, compact and youthfully austere finale. This isn't so compact that it couldn't be enjoyed young but I would still advise at least some patience in order to develop better depth.

Decanter
Elegant, high-toned aromas of raspberry and pomegranate with floral notes and noticeable, salty minerality. The texture is lively, with fresh acidity and firm tannins that drive it to a lingering finish. The grapes are from 1ha of vines in the upper reaches of the climat; they are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts before ageing in cask. (CC)
