A marvellous entry point to the range, this has expressive aromas of ripe apple and fresh white flowers, with just a hint of spice. On the palate, the wine is fresh and surprisingly lively. Produced mostly with grapes from Auxey-Duresses and St-Romain, slowly pressed in a vertical press and fermented in cask (5% new), with most of its lees. Drinking Window 2021 - 2029. (CC)

This year incorporating fruit from Saint-Romain and Monthélie, the 2019 Bourgogne Blanc exhibits aromas of pear, toasted bread and white flowers. Medium-bodied, racy and precise, with a nicely concentrated core of fruit and chalky back-end grip, it's a fine rendition of the appellation and represents a fine value. (WK)

Notes

88-90pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Lovely green and gold, a striking nose, loads of energy, substantial dry extract with excellent acidity, saline even, a note, which Guillaume Boillot feels holds true for the vintage in general. An impeccable example of Bourgogne Chardonnay with impressive length. Tasted: October 2020."
