Perched at one of the highest elevations in the commune of Barolo (up to 480 meters), this historic vineyard looks directly at the Alps, benefiting from brilliant morning sun and cool mountain drafts. In the dry, sun-drenched 2022 vintage, Bricco delle Viole’s old vines and high-altitude marls acted as a natural buffer, yielding a wine of profound structural integrity, aristocratically dialed-back fruit, and unparalleled vertical tension. The vinification is traditionally uncompromised, utilizing a very patient, gentle 40 to 50-day maceration before a long, slow maturation in large, neutral Slavonian oak casks to safeguard the site’s crystalline purity. In the glass, it shows a luminous, translucent ruby-garnet color. The nose is an absolute masterclass in ethereal complexity, requiring a few swirls to unleash an intellectual beam of fresh sour cherries, pomegranate, and blood orange rind.
