Reviewed May 2026The 2020 Extra Brut Ludes Vieilles Vignes is a fabulous follow up to the 2019. A blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Petit Meslier, the 2020 is sourced from selection of just two hectares of old vines. This opens beautifully on the palate with gorgeous textural presence from the Pinot Noir. White pepper, mint and chalk overtones from the Petit Meslier lift the long, vibrant finish. The 2020 is still recovering from its recent disgorgement about a month before this tasting, but it is incredibly promising. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: February 2026. (AG) 94+

We only received 60 bottles of this tinyproduction champagne from the Bereche family, which is sure to quickly gain a cult following. This wine is made in the style of all the hottest producers right now and is super saline, ultra dry, with a nutty hint framed by baguette toast. The 2020 vintage was a warm one and this bottling shows not only the great ripeness of the harvest, but also good back-end acidity. If you love producers like Selosse and Egly, this is a great producer to buy- at the "ground floor" price- this is only the 2nd vintage!
Notes
This offering, made at the Bérêche cellars, is the project of the wife of the family, all from her own small, old plot in Ludes on the Montagne de Reims and is all barrel fermented with no dosage.
