2019 Château de Vaudieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Review Date: 11/2021The classic 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape from this great estate is a winner and you certainly won’t be disappointed with bottles in the cellar. Lots of black raspberries, ripe cherries, flowery incense, and strawberry notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, wonderfully textured, balanced 2019 that has ripe tannins and outstanding length. A blend of 58% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 11% Mourvèdre, the rest Cinsault, drink it any time over the coming 10-15 years.

Notes
John Livingstone Learmonth for The Cradle of the Rhone: "dark, bright red robe; the bouquet is laced with oak, carries appealing blackberry fruit that is agreeably pure. The oak gives a nutty element. It’s a pretty stylish opening. The palate is soft, flows with suave dark berry content, is sleek, with oak and dusted tannins in play from the mid-point. This is all nicely together, doesn’t reach for the stars, but presents a good glass of elegant Châteauneuf that is not too locked away. It persists soundly, has good, steady length, produces raspberry mixed with the oak on the finish. From mid-2022, allow it to breathe." (04/2021)
