2015 DuMol Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2015 DuMol Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (90VN). Vinous: "The 2015 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) is a tasty, appellation-level wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Succulent, racy and forward, the 2015 has much to offer. Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark red and purplish fruit in this racy, expressive Pinot. (AG)" (04/2018)

Since their first harvest in 1996, the team at DuMol has thoughtfully assembled an incredible collection of vineyard sites. Winemaker Andy Smith has this to say about the 2015 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir: "Beautifully fragrant, aromatic Pinot: Cranberry, pomegranate, fresh raspberry and classic black cherry. Licorice, rose petal, thyme and graphite complexity, freshly-turned earth. Sweet fruit entry, broad rich and tactile but remains lively and supple. Rhubarb compote, darker cassis, baked plum — deep layered intensity. Subtle red-apple-skin tannins and lingering anise perfume. Persistent resonating finish. Drink between late-2017 and 2024."

Connoisseurs Guide

DuMOL certainly has earned its cred after years of making wines that rank near the top of the ratings list, and, while there is not a thing wrong with this bottling, it is not as deep and dramatic as its predecessors. To be sure, the top DuMOLs are vineyard designated, not its 'appellation' bottlings, but even then, this clean, fairly precise but less-than-fully-stuffed bottling focuses on specific red cherry fruit with a dollop of creamy oak for some added richness, and it has the energy to grow a little with a few years of aging. *One Star* (10/2017)

Wine Spectator

Raw, tannic and youthful now, with complex earthy berry flavors that gain depth and length. Time should be an asset. Best from 2018 through 2023. (JL, Web-2017) (05/2022)
