Torrin Vineyard is a small, hillside-focused estate on the west side of Paso Robles known for Rhône-inspired wines that emphasize limestone-driven structure and vineyard transparency. “The Maven” Grenache is sourced from steep, calcareous vineyard sites shaped by warm daytime temperatures and strong Pacific cooling influences, conditions that allow the grape to achieve both richness and vibrant acidity. Torrin’s restrained, low-intervention approach highlights the savory spice, mineral tension, and layered red fruit character that have made the west side of Paso Robles one of California’s premier regions for Grenache.

“Rose and violets give way to fresh cedar shavings as the 2020 Maven opens in the glass. This is vividly fruit-focused and wonderfully fresh, with crisp red fruits complicated by inner herbal tones as racy acidity adds a lovely freshness. This finishes long, lightly structured and full of zesty tension, ending on raspberry sauce notes and the slightest hint of charred wood. There's a bit of smoke taint here, yet it doesn't get in the way. It’s a blend of 95% Grenache and 5% Syrah. (EG)” (03/2023)
