Vinous
“The 2011 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru has a sensual, refined bouquet that gradually unfurls to reveal raspberry, blackberry and light sous-bois aromas, later joined by a touch of Earl Grey. The palate is medium-bodied with finely tuned tannin, well judged acidity, quite forward in style and certainly ready for drinking thanks to the freshness on the menthol-tinged finish. Very fine. Tasted at Flint Wines Burgundy 2011 tasting.” (05/2019)

“Here too the nose seems to lack its usual freshness though there is good complexity to the red berry fruit that is liberally laced with earth and spice hints. There is a lilting mouth feel to the energetic, intense and equally pure medium-bodied flavors that possess plenty of that beguiling sense of underlying tension that makes wines like this a joy to drink. (Drink starting 2018)” (01/2014)

““It is against my religion to pick in August” insisted Frédéric on the eve of the harvest, so he started on 2nd September instead. After the very warm early season, Frédéric tried to adapt his vines for a hot summer, hedging lower for example, but as in 2007 this proved to be the wrong choice in the light of the actual summer. Nonetheless the wine is good. The colour is holding up well and the nose retains the youthfulness, very faint green streak, excellent fruit up front, very slight pyrazine notes behind, but this is very pretty.” (06/2018)
