Review Date: 04/2026The pureness of fruit is exceptional, with a long and linear palate of wonderfully curated raspberry, cherry and blueberry aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied. You almost don’t see the tannins, but you know they are there. So silky and endless. It has the core of fruit of the best of the vintage. 50% merlot and 50% cabernet franc.

The Wine Palate
Review Date: 04/2026
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 Angélus cascades out of the glass with flowing scents of fresh blackberries, red currant preserves, and lilacs, giving way to fragrant suggestions of rose bud tea, crushed rocks, garrigue, and forest floor. The medium- to full-bodied palate is a vortex of energy, delivering swirling black, red, and blue fruit notes with floral accents, supported by super-fine-grained tannins and a lively line of freshness, finishing very long with lots of mineral and chalky sparks. An exhilarating vinous adventure! (LPB)

Cassis, graphite, violets, iris, and a wonderful sense of minerality all define the 2025 Château Angélus, another ultra-classic Saint-Emilion from this address. It's a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, with the Merlot raised in 60% new oak and 40% once-used oak and the Cabernet Franc split between 50% new oak and 50% foudre. Checking in at 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.6, it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with incredible purity, classy background oak, integrated acidity, and a great finish.

A blend of equal parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot, the 2025 Angélus is already beautifully harmonious, even at this early stage. Unfurling in the glass with notes of sweet dark berries and plums mingled with notions of violets, licorice and spices, it's medium- to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with ripe tannins, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish. Much like its 2022 predecessor, the 2025 underlines that this estate's shift toward greater purity and subtler élevage choices can be sustained even in historically warm years. (WK)

Email ThomasAngelus recently put their finishing touches on their gorgeous new cellar, which utilizes conical fermenters for gentler extractions. The 2025 has joyful, bright and effusive aromatic. The palate is expansive and precise, with an undertone of spice. It’s sappy and startlingly pretty, with well integrated tannins The 50% Franc shines beautifully in this vintage, adding intrigue and depth to alongside the lushness of the merlot which rounds out the other half of the blend.

Email RyanI feel like Angélus has been chasing a style that speaks more clearly and transparently to their terroir, and in 2025 they’ve nailed it. You still get the layered black fruit and fine tannins, but it’s the balance that really grabs me—bright, focused, fully integrated. The wine builds on the palate with remarkable detail, bringing in floral notes, limestone salinity, and nuance after nuance, all carried by nearly invisible tannins.
Flavorful and complex, open and bright, it’s a wine you could all too easily enjoy right now, yet it’s poised to evolve gracefully in the cellar for years. Congratulations to the team at Angélus for what they’ve crafted in 2025.
