This is stunning, a Bourgogne Blanc from a respected producer in Puligny-Montrachet, made from two plots there. There's plenty of peachy fruit, but the first thing that comes to mind when you swirl, sniff and sip is good French butter with salt crystals. Toasty, with a suggestion of butterscotch and great salinity, it's dangerously moreish. The same wine is bottled as Corney & Barrow's own-label Bourgogne Chardonnay. (AW)

Notes

François Carillon's domaine was formed in 2010 after the Louis Carillon estate was divided between François and his brother Jacques. This Bourgogne Chardonnay is the entry point to a Puligny-Montrachet-based cellar known for traditional Burgundian élevage and a restrained, site-focused style.
