The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Thorey 1er Cru has an elegant nose with transparent red berry fruit, forest floor and orange blossom scents; violets emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, quite spicy red berry fruit and touches of brown spice towards the grippy finish. This will need a couple more years in bottle but is very promising.(NM)

Note: from a .43 ha parcel of vines planted in 1953. Moderate reduction is enough to mask the underlying fruit so be sure to give this some air first if you're tempted to try a bottle young. Otherwise, the silky, vibrant and stony medium weight flavors are not particularly dense but do possess excellent delineation on the youthfully austere, moderately firm and well-balanced finale. This is very Aux Thorey in style though it could use better depth so a few years of keeping are in order.
