Another great everyday value from our Anonymous Wine project, this blend of 55% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 15% Mourvedre is packed with ripe blackberry fruit flavors. The nose is expressive, with plenty of brambly berries alongside a gentle whiff of vanilla. For a wine this powerful and brooding, there is surprising freshness and lift here, concluding with a stoney minerality. A great Paso GSM blend priced to enjoy whenever!

Notes

This new release from the Anonymous Wine Collective comes from a renowned producer in west Paso Robles known for powerful yet refined wines based predominantly on Rhône grape varieties. This is a winery we have worked very closely with for many years, even visiting with our sales team some time ago to walk the vineyards and tour the cellar. This particular wine comes from a highly sought-after site in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles, an area known for its extremely limestone-rich soils, mountainous topography, and slightly cooler temperatures than some of the surrounding sub-regions. The wine is a blend of 55% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 15% Mourvèdre, aged for an extended 20 months in French oak, with just a modest 15% new oak. I'm thrilled with the result! The wine has a wonderful purity of fruit and an immediacy that makes it incredibly appealing right out of the gate—you can happily pop and pour. At the same time, there is serious depth, concentration, and structure here, which makes me think this will age beautifully, as wines from this producer typically do. Without giving too much away, this winery regularly earns 94-97 point scores from major publications and is well on its way to becoming one of the brightest stars in the region. I'm incredibly thankful and excited to work with them on this Anonymous project, and I certainly hope there are more bottlings to come! Cheers - Ryan Woodhouse (K&L Domestic Wine Buyer)
