1984 Domaine Durroux 41 Year Old "K&L Exclusive" Single Barrel No.28 Mauléon-d’Armagnac Bas-Armagnac (700ml)

Notes

This extraordinary barrel of Armagnac was distilled in 1984 at the beautiful Domaine Durroux, a small family estate tucked into the heart of Gascony. Long hidden from the world beyond its region, the Domaine has been producing exceptional brandy for generations, its reputation sustained entirely by the quality of its spirit rather than any pursuit of fame. Jean-Marc Durroux, born and raised on the property, has devoted his life to the élevage of Armagnac, maintaining the patient craft passed down through his family. A traditionalist through and through, he has never sought to modernize or reinvent the process, preferring instead to preserve the techniques taught by his parents and grandparents and refined alongside local itinerant distillers. He became master distiller at just 20 years old, and the fruits of that lifetime of dedication are now finally being shared beyond the local trade. The Domaine grows Baco 22A, Folle Blanche, Ugni Blanc, and Colombard, all distilled on a small wood-fired alembic and aged exclusively in local Gascon oak. Every cask is tended by hand in the estate’s cool, ancient chai. This 1984 barrel, selected exclusively for K&L was distilled from 100% Baco, shows a perfect harmony of fruit, spice, and oak, bottled at natural cask strength without chill-filtration or reduction. It is a remarkable glimpse into the timeless soul of traditional Armagnac.
