Review Date: 05/2026Based on 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon that's being raised in 50% new barrels, foudre, and amphora, the 2025 Château Sansonnet comes from cooler, limestone soils. It has gorgeous aromatics of black fruits, cassis, graphite, and roasted herbs with a beautiful, serious mineral streak. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, ripe, polished, building tannins, and beautifully integrated acidity. Checking in at 13.5% alcohol, this is another brilliant effort from this terrific winemaker.

The 2025 Sansonnet is remarkable. Explosive and racy, it delivers floral overtones that meld into red/purplish fruit, blood orange, sweet spice and cedar. This is an especially mid-weight, refined Sansonnet, a wine that marries finesse with power. The long, resonant finish is so attractive, but everything about the 2025 speaks to superb balance. Élevage is 50% new oak, 20% once-used barrels, 20% foudre and 10% in amphora. (AG)

Bright and shiny, this has super charm from the first sip, soft, creamy, slightly chalky but with such finesse and elegance that no one aspect sticks out. Fine tannins, balanced acidity, pure fruit and a long length. I love Sansonnet and this really delivers a clean, pure, focused glass of wine with such drinkability. Juicy and delicious. Definitely not over done, relaxed and hands off. (GH)

Coffee and cocoa bean, luscious ripe berry fruits, highly charged with plenty of intensity, bitter fennel on the finish. Takes you firmly into limestone territory, but with an underlying power and mid-palate expansion that is seriously impressive. 7ha of vines all surrounding the château. The limestone here is still Asteries as across much of the St Emilion plateau but much more dense than at (also owned by Lefévère family) as Villemaurine. Love how these two estates really show that even on the plateau there are big differences in expression. 50% new oak for ageing, along with larger oak casks and amphora.
