1999 Beaulieu Vineyard "Signet Collection Beauzeaux" Napa Valley Red Blend

Notes

Beaulieu Vineyard is a foundational Napa estate, established in 1900 in Rutherford by Georges and Fernande de Latour, French immigrants who named the property “beau lieu,” or “beautiful place.” From the outset, BV helped shape the region’s future. Georges de Latour introduced phylloxera-resistant rootstock from Europe, strengthening not only his own vineyards but the viability of Napa Valley viticulture more broadly. The winery’s continuity through Prohibition proved equally defining. By producing sacramental wine under license, BV remained operational while most peers closed, emerging after repeal with expanded scale and market presence. A major quality leap came in 1938 with André Tchelistcheff, whose influence helped establish modern Napa winemaking practices and elevated BV Cabernet to benchmark status. By mid-century, BV ranked among Napa’s leading producers, with wines served at the White House; its Georges de Latour Private Reserve remains a longstanding reference point for Rutherford Cabernet.
